The 2022 summer transfer window was certainly a lively one for Manchester United.
The arrival of Erik ten Hag, coupled with a below-par 2021/22 campaign, meant it was always going to be a window of relatively big changes.
And so it proved with six new arrivals and eight senior departures. But as well as the aforementioned half-dozen who did arrive, there were plenty of other names linked with a move to United in what proved a busy few months.
Here, we look at how four players who were heavily linked with an Old Trafford switch have been getting on for their respective clubs this season.

Frenkie de Jong
Arguably the transfer saga of the summer and one that didn't have a happy ending for United. The Barcelona midfielder was the club's number one target given his close links to Erik ten Hag following their time together at Ajax.
Week after week went by with negotiations barely inching forward. The big complication in all of this was an ongoing wrangle between the player and Barca over unpaid wages.
In the end, De Jong stayed put and this season has been a mainstay in the team, featuring in every game so far and scoring recently in the 4-0 win over Cadiz.
Marko Arnautovic
One of the more 'interesting' transfer sagas involving United this summer. The former Stoke and West Ham striker was a surprise name on United's shortlist.
United pulled the plug on negotiations after negative backlash. However, the drama clearly hasn't impacted the Austrian. He's started the campaign in superb form, with six goals in as many Serie A matches putting him top of the scoring charts in Italy.
Jurriën Timber
Another player who Ten Hag was keen to reunite with. The defender was a key part of Ten Hag's side at Ajax and as such was seen by many as likely to follow his old manager to United.
But those hopes were seemingly dashed when Netherlands boss Louis van Gaal questioned the move ahead of the World Cup and Timber went on to pen a contract extension with the Dutch giants last month. The 21-year-old has been an ever-present this season, featuring in the Champions League games against Rangers and Liverpool.
Adrien Rabiot
Another player who looked destined, at one point, to arrive at Old Trafford was French midfielder Adrien Rabiot.
United had agreed a fee of £15million potentially rising to £20m but the move broke down in the latter stages after excessive wage demands. Rabiot’s mother, Veronique, negotiated on her son’s behalf and was always viewed as a stumbling block in discussions due to her fearsome reputation.
Since the collapse, Rabiot has re-integrated himself back into the Juventus team, but after starting the first three Serie A games of the season he has since picked up an injury. He did manage to feature against his old club PSG in a Champions League tie earlier this month.
