'Top guy, love him' - Conor Coady reacts to new Everton song

Conor Coady has shared his pride at hearing Everton supporters signing his name in pubs and on the terraces after his summer loan move to Goodison Park from Wolves.

And the 29-year-old centre-back has reinforced his desire for the players and the fans to be united as one as Frank Lampard looks to get the Toffees on a progressive trajectory following a frightening brush with relegation last season.

St Helens-born Coady has been talking to the club's official website for their latest ' Everton 24/7' episode on YouTube. And after being shown a video of Evertonians singing his name to the tune of Wigfield's nostalgic Europop anthem 'Saturday night' he explained what their support made him feel.

Coady said: "Special. Incredible feeling. When supporters have a song for you. it's unbelievable. It's something that fills you with pride, first and foremost. When I first saw it - whoever the fella is with the top off is a top fella! He's bouncing away, loving his life. Whoever he is, he's a top guy. Love him.

"It fills me with pride. The feeling you get from the supporters and what they bring to the club and what they bring for us as a team - but when you hear songs like that, it's not just great for me. For my family - the kids are bouncing around the house. I went to my kids' football and one of the little lads comes to me singing the song and he's throwing swear words in and everything.

"It's for everyone. That's what we want. We want that feeling between everyone, whether it's my name they're singing, or Seamus (Coleman) or Dom (Calvert-Lewin) or Neal (Maupay) or whether its Ama (Onana). Whoever it is, we want that feeling between the players and the fans to be strong and together. It's important that we have that, but what a feeling. Incredible."

Coady has made seven Premier League appearances for Everton, scoring once. Speculation has already mounted about making his loan deal at Goodison a permanent switch although when quizzed on it by reporters, Lampard would not be drawn on the matter.
