Top forecaster pinpoints day to expect 'short lived weather event' as hot plume of 'dangerous' heat nears Ireland

Ireland is set for a week of glorious sunshine as a band of warm air moves across the country and temperatures reach highs of 29 degrees.

As we move towards the weekend, things will heat up further with a "short lived weather event", causing Spain, Portugal, France and the UK to scorch in possible 46 degree conditions.

A forecaster has pinpointed the arrival of the "dangerous" heat as Sunday will see the height of the sizzling weather in Ireland, with some areas nearing maximum temperatures of 30 degrees.
