After winning a national championship as a freshman with Georgia, defensive lineman Bear Alexander is heading across the country in search of another one with a different school.
Alexander, who entered the transfer portal earlier this month and was considered the top player available at his position, announced on Sunday he would be transferring to USC. Alexander will have three years of eligibility remaining.
Alexander was a five-star recruit for the class of 2022. He played in 12 games as a freshman with the Bulldogs, recording nine tackles and two sacks. He was a standout during Georgia’s national championship game win over TCU, recording a sack and two tackles for loss.
The Terrell, Texas native will look to shore up a USC defense that ranked 93rd nationally in points allowed per game (29.2) and 106th in total yards given up per game (423.9). The Trojans went 11–1 in the regular season in 2022, but lost in the Pac-12 championship game to Utah and then in the Cotton Bowl against Tulane, allowing 93 points combined across the two defeats.
