Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah ended 2024 with a bang. In Liverpool’s final Premier League match of the year against West Ham United on Sunday, 29th December, the Egyptian scored once and provided two assists, helping his team to a mega 5-0 win.
Last weekend, he became the only player in Premier League history to register 10+ goals and assists before Christmas. He is now the first-ever Premier League player to score and assist in a single game eight times throughout the season. Impressively, we are still only in December.
Salah toyed with defenders and scored for fun in 2024. In the list below, we will check out how many goals he netted for club and country — including all competitions — throughout the year and explore where he ranks in the top 10. Let’s begin!
Note: We have only considered players competing in the top 10 leagues.
#10 Cole Palmer (Chelsea & England): 29 Goals*

The 22-year-old scored two goals in nine games for the Three Lions, netting the remaining 27 goals for Chelsea in 37 matches. He can climb higher in the rankings if he scores in the Premier League clash against Ipswich Town on 30th December.
Palmer recorded 22 goals and 11 assists in 33 Premier League games for Chelsea last season, deservedly winning the Young Player of the Season award. This year, he has already scored 12 times and provided six assists in 18 Premier League outings, emerging as a strong contender for the Player of the Season accolade.
#9 Mohamed Salah (Liverpool & Egypt): 29 Goals

Salah had a mediocre 2023-24 season by his lofty standards, as he only scored 25 times in 44 appearances for the Merseysiders. He has looked a lot more prolific this term, scoring 20 goals already in only 26 games. With 17 strikes in the Premier League, Salah has emerged as the leading goalscorer in the division.
#8 Vinicius Jr. (Real Madrid & Brazil): 31 Goals
Real Madrid No. 7 Vinicius Jr. capped off the year with 31 goals in 46 games. The Best FIFA Men’s Player scored just two goals in 11 games for Brazil in 2024. Meanwhile, for Real Madrid, he netted 29 times in 35 outings across competitions. The jet-heeled left-winger needs to be a lot more productive for his country to emerge as the undisputed best player in the world.
Vinicius Jr. had an explosive 2023-24 campaign for Real Madrid. He played 39 games for the club in all competitions, scoring 24 goals and providing 11 assists. His goals and assists proved decisive as Los Blancos won La Liga, the UEFA Champions League, and the Supercopa de Espana. Since his transfer to Real Madrid in the summer of 2024, Mbappe has netted 14 times in 24 appearances in all competitions.
Mbappe had a slow start to life at Real Madrid, but he has since found his footing. Carlo Ancelotti will need his No. 9 to come good when Los Blancos enter the business end of the season in 2025.

He enjoyed an explosive start to the 2024-25 season as well, scoring 10 goals in the first five league outings. However, he has been on an abnormally lean run since the end of September, adding only four league goals to his tally in 14 games. He must fix his act in the second half of the 2024-25 season to help Man City secure a top-four finish in the English top flight.
