This is the hilarious moment a Newcastle United fan recreated Peter Andre's music video in Killingworth lake after his side qualified for the Champions League.
David White promised he would re-enact the singer's famous Mysterious Girl video if the Magpies finished in the top four of the Premiership. The 35-year-old made the pledge on social media following the Toon's 0-0 draw away to Arsenal in January.
When Newcastle secured Champions League football during the 0-0 draw at home to Leicester in May, the season ticket holder realised he would have to stay true to his word.
David, who sits in the Leazes end at St James' Park, encouraged people to donate to the NUFC Fans Food Bank before he took the plunge into the lake in his home town of Killingworth, North Tyneside.
The original video for the 1996 number 1 hit features a topless Peter Andre singing and dancing in the water. David chose to recreate the footage last Saturday - the day of the Champion's League final.
In the video footage, he can be seen dancing topless in the lake with his arms in the air, as the tune is played in the background.
David, who works in catering at Newcastle University, said: "I really don't know where the idea came from. I'm not a Peter Andre fan!
"When we got a point at Arsenal everyone was getting excited. I thought I will say it now. I put on my Facebook that if it happens I would do it. I didn't expect it to happen.
"We were sitting third at the top at Christmas. I thought after the World Cup our momentum would go and that would be it.
"As the season went on, people kept reminding me of it. I was over the moon that we were in the Champions League. Last season was just amazing.
"When it came to having to jump in the lake, I thought people are going to expect me to do it. I told people to make donations, I said 'donate to the food bank and then I will'.
"I did it on the Saturday morning before the Champions League final. I felt daft, I'm not a very good dancer! I don't know if I copied the dance properly, I was just dancing. I don't know how I did it without laughing.
"I don't regret it as I raised money for the food bank. Most people are saying it's funny and it made them laugh and it's good that I have raised money for the food bank while doing it."
It is not the first time that David has raised money for charities in the North East.
Last year, he ran almost 2,500 miles during a virtual route 66 challenge to raise funds for the West End Food bank and, in 2021, David ran 1892 miles for the Bobby Robson Foundation.
