Tony Adams leaves Strictly Come Dancing due to injury as fans blame bottom two result on TV 'clash'

Upset Strictly Come Dancing fans are blaming Tony Adams’ being in the bottom two on BBC show on the fact that Arsenal were playing at the same time the show was on, with their match also on TV. And the theories came as Tony 'surrendered' the dance-off due to injury and left the ballroom before the judges voted.

While the e x Arsenal defender hasn’t been anywhere near the top of the leaderboard since his Strictly journey started, he has grown to be a massive favourite with fans, so much so that odds were shortened on him doing the unthinkable and winning the show. Predictions that Tony could be a future champion were heightened after it emerged that there was concerted effort from Arsenal fans to get votes in every weekend to keep him in the competition.

Prior to this weekend that had worked, as Tony and pro partner Katya Jones had avoided the dance off. But unfortunately for them, their run of escaping the bottom two came to an this weekend. They were bottom of the leaderboard once again, after their to Land of Thousand Dances, and, sadly for Tony and Katya, once Strictly viewers had voted, their score wasn’t enough to keep them out of danger.

They landed in the dance off for the first time alongside Tyler West and Dianne Buswell, who also made an unwanted debut in the dance off. And, after Tony learnt his fate, before withdrawing due to injury, some upset fans blamed the fact that Arsenal were playing Wolves at the same time that Strictly was on, so fans were distracted from voting.

Using that theory on Twitter, before Tony had even left Strictly, one Gunners supporter tweeted: “Maybe if Arsenal had been playing in the afternoon instead of the evening on Saturday Tony Adams would have got through.

Thinking the same thing, a second reacted: Arsenal playing whilst #Strictly was on has done for Tony Adams," with another posting: "Is it coincidence that @TonyAdams was in dance off when @Arsenal were playing during voting last night? Took their eye off the ball?"
