Real Madrid star Toni Kroos has hinted at an exit for Marco Asensio this summer amid links with a switch to Arsenal in the coming weeks. The Spaniard is approaching the final few months of his contract with Los Blancos, opening up the possibility of a fresh start elsewhere.
The Gunners have been heavily linked as one of the clubs monitoring a switch, with the side now looking to add to their squad going into the new season. Mikel Arteta has a number of areas to address this summer, with the midfield being one of the key places the squad will strengthen.
football.london understands that Declan Rice is a top priority for the coming weeks ahead, while reports from Germany claim that Granit Xhaka won't leave the north London outfit until a replacement is secured. That could see a number of other options eyed for the summer window.

One of which being Asensio, with reports claiming that the midfielder has rejected a new contract with Real Madrid, all but "confirming" his exit this summer. With Arsenal amongst a host of clubs linked with a move, Kroos may have dropped the biggest hint yet over a switch.
Speaking to Total Real, via the Mirror, the veteran midfielder said: “It’s difficult to say what will happen with Nacho, [Dani] Ceballos and Asensio, to be honest. I have a feeling that Marco might not stay, but also more from outside reports than inside [knowledge]. In terms of Nacho and Dani, I have no idea. But I have a feeling. I’d be happy if they stayed.”
It remains to be seen whether the 27-year-old, soon to be free agent would be a plausible target for Arteta to add to his squad for next season. However, the need to add strength in depth is clear as another title push and the return of Champions League football are added to the mix.
