Tommy Fury will revisit Jake Paul fight next year with target date planned

Tommy Fury will look to fight Jake Paul early next year providing he comes through his latest test against Paul Bamba.

Fury has not fought since picking up victory on his brother Tyson's heavyweight title defence against Dillian Whyte back in April when he outpointed Daniel Bocianski. 'TNT' then signed his contract to face long-term rival Paul for a second time after the fight was called off last December, but the event was shelved once again with the British star prevented from travelling to the US.

Since his meeting with Paul collapsed, Fury has remained in training and will now take on ex-Marine Corps Bamba on the undercard of Floyd Mayweather's exhibition with Deji on November 13 in Dubai. And his promoter Frank Warren has revealed in a brief update that he and the rest of Fury's team will look to put on a rescheduled event next year providing he progresses beyond his next test.

"We would love to try and do the Jake Paul fight next year," Warren told Mirror Fighting . "He has to come through the fight in Dubai first but if he does then that is what we are going to go for and we could possibly do it next spring."

Paul will first take on UFC legend Anderson Silva next weekend having finally secured his return for the first time since defeating Tyron Woodley in their rematch last December. Paul revealed the plan remains to fight Fury before pursuing other options such as Nate Diaz, with an agreement already close to being in place for early next year.

"Had a call with Tommy Fury. Yeah, they're saying we're going to fight in February," Paul said on his BS podcast. "I think he actually can't come into the United States. So if I fight him in the UK, I think parts of it are shady, I don't think we're getting the full truth on everything, but regardless, it's a great match-up and I really want to knock him out."

Fury recently hijacked a FaceTime call between Amanda Serrano and Paul when the female star won her most recent outing on the undercard of Joe Joyce's win over Joseph Parker. And Fury's father John revealed to Mirror Fighting earlier this month that positive talks had been held between both teams to get the fight over the line again.

"I was sat with his people at the Joseph Parker, Joe Joyce fight and we talked about things," Fury Sr revealed. "Everything was very positive. We want this to happen so we will be sitting down to sort it and make sure a deal will be finalised this time. The fight is very much alive. We will accommodate Jake Paul next year."
