Tommy Fury has been paid his fight purse in full despite weighing in heavier than Paul Bamba for their cancelled bout.
Rising star Fury was set to make his latest professional outing against ex-Marine Bamba on the undercard of Floyd Mayweather's exhibition win over Deji in Dubai. However the fight, set for 175lbs, was cancelled after Fury tipped the scales seven pounds heavier than his rival.
Despite his appearance being thrown into jeopardy, Fury found a late replacement in the shape of Rolly Lambert, whom he fought in the co-main event, which was instead classified as an exhibition bout. Despite Fury missing out on another notch on his professional record the promoter of the event, Global Titans, have insisted the terms of his contract were honoured.
They released a statement which read: "Global Titans would like to thank Tommy Fury and his team for their participation in his exhibition bout at the Coca-Cola Arena on Sunday in Dubai. We would like to also place on record that, despite multiple incorrect claims, Tommy made his contracted weight and was paid his purse in full.
"We also thank Tommy for making every effort to ensure his original scheduled fight took place. The contractual weight issues between both contracts were no fault of Tommy or Paul and the matter is now being dealt with internally. We look forward to working with Tommy and his team in the future."
Fury had already released a statement following the cancellation of his bout with Bamba, insisting that he had indeed met the contracted weight, which has since been confirmed by the promotion. He said during an Instagram video: "I just want to clear a few things up, one contract was given to Paul Bamba and one contract was given to myself.

"The weight in my contract, I made yesterday. So as far as I'm concerned, I've done my job, I made weight. Paul Bamba does not want to fight, he never did. I'm here in Dubai, I've got a new opponent and I'm ready to go, so I'll see you all tonight."
Bamba was left without a fight on the night after the mishap, which saw Fury put on an underwhelming display against Lambert instead. Fury's rival had weighed in at 174lb and was raring to go, but claimed he was extremely disappointed as he expected his rival to miss weight by only 2lb.
"The situation at hand as we know it is Global Titans has cancelled my event due to the lack of being able to come to a mutual and amicable agreement. I wasn't given what I was wanted, they've been telling people they offered me a bunch of things," he told Fred Talks Fighting. "At the end of the day, there were two separate contracts for the weight which is not fair. I don't know whose fault that is and I'm not placing blame on anybody, but it's not right."
