Editors’ note, Aug. 19, 5:30 p.m. ET: This story has been updated to reflect comments from Christy Houston Porter, the founder and CEO of Jasmine Nyree Campus.
A group of kids had the opportunity to work out with Steelers running back Najee Harris and the rest of the team Wednesday after coach Mike Tomlin invited them out to training camp.
Fox Sports NFL insider Jay Glazer posted a video of Harris doing drills with the group of kids and shared the story of why Tomlin invited the kids in the first place. The reporter stated that Tomlin “saw these kids fighting in the street,” but Christy Houston Porter, the founder and CEO of Jasmine Nyree Campus, later shared that Tomlin “has been a fixture in the Sheraden Community with the kids at The Jasmine Campus since 2020.”
Porter added, “After this particular visit to The Jasmine Nyree Campus, he invited the kids to Steelers Training Camp.”
Tomlin coached the kids during the drills just as he would with his Steelers players. “Eyes up,” and ”There we go,” could be heard coming from Tomlin as the kids ran through drills after Harris.
