In-demand Tom Lawrence is on the verge of signing for Rangers to serve up Gio van Bronckhorst a new-look attack in time for Champions League qualifying.
The Ibrox side confirmed the capture of £1.8m striker Antonio Colak and now the former Derby County man is set to follow, reports the Glasgow Times. The likes of Leeds United, Everton, Nottingham Forest and Sheffield United were all linked with the 28-year-old but he appears primed for Glasgow.
Rangers kick off their Scottish Premiership campaign on July 30 but looming Champions League qualifiers will prove vital for a side keen to return to European football's top table this season. Lawrence was a smash hit at Derby under the tutelage of Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney and is now set to begin a new career at Rangers.
Meanwhile, Van Bronckhorst has saluted the arrival of Colak to Rangers on a three-year deal from PAOK. And the Dutchman is convinced his new forward will be worth waiting on.
He told Rangers TV: "He’s a very experienced player who has played at a high level and scored goals. We want to add players to the attacking options and Colak will give us a lot of strings up front. Hopefully he does well and we’ll make him feel very welcome and prepare him for the important games.
"We wanted to because we need more goals next season. Everyone in the team can score goals but we want to have more options and Colak was one of the options we wanted this season. It took a bit longer than I expected but we’re happy to welcome him to Rangers."
