Tom Homan makes New York ICE threat after clashing with Governor Kathy Hochul

  • Tom Homan, border czar for the Trump administration, has reaffirmed his threat to deploy a significant number of ICE agents to New York City.
  • Homan's comments were a direct response to New York Governor Kathy Hochul's efforts to introduce legislation that would restrict local law enforcement's cooperation with federal immigration authorities.
  • Governor Hochul had previously stated that the Trump administration had assured her there would be no federal surge without her request, to which Homan retorted, "I'm not asking either. I said it. We’re going to do it."
  • Homan criticised the proposed legislative measures, arguing they would compel ICE to conduct arrests in communities rather than jails, potentially leading to migrants being detained further from their families and legal counsel.
  • A White House spokeswoman supported Homan's position, indicating that if local law enforcement declines to cooperate, more ICE officers will be dispatched to remove "criminal illegal aliens."
