Everybody has that one brilliant pitch for their dream video-game-to-film adaptation, and Tom Holland’s might be the best yet. Or the bleakest, depending on who you ask.
During an interview with GameSpot, the Uncharted star explains that he would love to work on another Naughty Dog classic, but probably not the one you’d expect.
“I would like to make a Jak and Daxter movie, and I would play Jak,” Holland said. “But I would make it A24 so it was really weird and dark.”
A24 is the independent film company that brought us The Lighthouse, and Hereditary — not everyone’s first choice to adapt a cartoony action platformer. But hey, Holland is the movie star here, so who am I to question his choice.
Check out the clip of Holland talking about his curious pitch for yourself below.

Funnily enough, Naughty Dog’s other colossal franchise, The Last of Us, is getting an inky TV series from HBO. That franchise is pretty dark already, so there’s not much room to take the somber tone even further. Of course, Holland is only playing up his answer for laughs, but to be honest, the idea of Midsommar’s production staff making a hyper-realistic Daxter sounds downright hilarious and something that should absolutely happen. After all, worse video game adaptations are already out there.
