Tom Hardy wins martial arts championship after secretly entering and flooring opponents

Tom Hardy showed off his strength and proved he is more than a Hollywood hardman as he competed in a martial arts championship and took home the gold.

The Peaky Blinders star, 45, took part in the UMAC Milton Keynes BJJ Open 2022 which was held at Oakgrove School in Milton Keynes on Saturday. Tom had arranged to take part in the fight in secret and floored all of his opponents.

The Mad Max actor is a high-level blue belt in jiu-jitsu and fans couldn't believe their eyes when he stepped out wearing a blue jiu jitsu gi, which gave a flash of his toned physique and many tattoos.

Tom made short work of the competition as he won gold with an impressive arm bar.

He was pictured posing with his gold medal and certificate, which featured his full name Edward Hardy.

The event was organised by Ultimate Martial Arts Championships, with a spokesman for the organisation speaking very highly of the world famous actor.

"Tom was a really nice guy. Everyone recognised him but he was very humble and was happy to take time out for people to take photographs with him," they told The MK Citizen.

They added: "It was a real pleasure to have him compete at our event."

Sean Rosborough, who sponsored the event, said the organisers had been made aware the mega-star would be coming to the championship a few weeks earlier.

They kept his appearance to themselves to stop fans from "distracting" him while he competed.

"We found out he was coming probably a couple of weeks before. But the organisers kept it to themselves – and didn't want masses of people turning up distracting him from what he was doing.

"He was brilliant. A lot of people were asking for photos, and coming up to him, and he had no problem with that all. The mums were all over him. It didn't bother him," he told the Daily Mail.

Sean, who watched each of Tom's fights, said the actor won quick victories in all of them in order to be crowned champion of his section.

Tom reportedly got into Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu when he trained for the film Warrior, where he played the part of a former boxer.
