Olympian Tom Daley will star in Tom Daley: Illegal To Be Me tonight on BBC One as he visits the most homophobic countries in the Commonwealth to explore how gay athletes are facing extreme persecution.
The diver, who is now 28 years old, bagged his first Olympic gold medal at Tokyo 2020 after winning the men's synchronised 10m platform with partner Matty Lee.
Tom came out as gay in late 2013 on his Youtube channel, titled "Something I want to say".
In the video, he said: "In spring this year my life changed massively when I met someone, and they make me feel so happy, so safe and everything just feels great. That someone is a guy."
The diver then went public with American film and TV producer Dustin Lance Black, who is 20 years his senior, a month after the Youtube announcement.
Here's a look at their relationship timeline, from the first time they are likely to have met to marriage and fatherhood.
When did Tom Daley and Dustin Lance Black first meet?
The couple reportedly met at a mutual friend's dinner in Los Angeles in 2013 and soon began dating.
Shortly after the pair met, the diver came out publicly and announced that he had a boyfriend.
In 2016, Dustin told Out magazine that it was "love at first sight" between the couple.
When did they confirm their relationship?
Tom and Dustin went public with their relationship in 2014 on social media platform Instagram.
During the first week of January that year, the couple shared numerous images of each other, with Dustin sharing an image on his Instagram of a cake with the words ‘I heart Tom’ emblazoned on the top.
When did Tom Daley get married?
Tom and Dustin announced their engagement in October 2015 but the pair did not tie the knot until two years later.
They got married in May 2017 at a Shakespeare-themed ceremony at Bovey Castle in Devon.
The diver shared some images from his wedding on Instagram a few days after the romantic event.
The caption read: "On 6th May 2017, I married the love of my life @dlanceblack. We shared the day with 120 of our closest friends and family, from Texarkana to Plymouth! Thank you to everyone who made this weekend the most special weekend of our lives!"
The couple reportedly discussed their wedding just a week into knowing each other.
Tom told the Guardian in 2018 how quickly their relationship moved at the start of their blossoming romance:
He said: "It was a real love-at-first-sight thing. But then I had to come back to England so we were just talking on the phone or WhatsApp or whatever. Then he came over eight weeks later.
"The first night, I took him to meet my friends and said: ‘This is my boyfriend.’ The next night we went on our first date. The next night he asked me to be his boyfriend.
"The night after that, after a couple of lychee martinis, he told me he loved me. He extended his trip, we were already talking about babies and weddings. So that was in the first week. It was weird. But now it’s five years later …”
Does Tom Daley have children?
On February 14, 2018, Tom and Dustin announced that they were expecting a child together via surrogate.
Tom revealed to The Times in April 2018 that both he and Dustin had provided sperm to fertilise the donor eggs, but they did not wish to find out which one of them was the biological father.
Tom said: "We found an egg donor and we are the sperm donors, we have fertilised half the eggs each.
"We put in a boy embryo and a girl embryo and we don't know whose is whose. The next time we will do it the other way round."
Baby Robbie Ray was born on June 27, 2018 in the United States.
The couple decided to name their son Robbie after Tom's dad Robert, who sadly passed away from a returning brain tumour in 2011.
Tom and his father had a close bond, with Robert following his son to his diving events despite his illness before he passed away.
The diver previously mentioned that he hoped to be just like his dad when it came to fatherhood.
Paying tribute to his dad on Father's Day in 2011, Tom tweeted: "If I could be half the dad that my Dad was to me then that would be my best achievement! I love you!"
Tom, Dustin and Robbie Ray now live in an impressive apartment in Southwark, South London, which bares amazing views of the capital.
Tom Daley: Illegal To Be Me will air tonight at 9pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
