Tom Brady in talks to become part-owner of Raiders

He’s the GOAT, and a business mogul, who has a massive 10-year contract with FOX Sports. Next up for Tom Brady could be part owner of the Las Vegas Raiders.

ESPN reported Friday the legendary quarterback is in deep talks to become part of the AFC West team’s ownership.

Per the ESPN report:

Discussions between the two sides have been going on for weeks and could soon be reaching a resolution, yet sources say it’s still an extremely sensitive and fluid negotiation. Brady’s investment is expected to be “passive,” a source with direct knowledge of the situation says, and he would not have any operational control or authority over the club in business or football matters.

Brady already has an ownership stake in the Las Vegas Aces, the WNBA team owned by Raiders owner Mark Davis.

It would take approval from 24 NFL owners to agree to Brady’s limited partnership. Brady is taking this year off before beginning what is expected to be the No. 1 analyst role on FOX’s NFL broadcasts.

ESPN reported FOX Sports has already “blessed” the arrangement, which should not impact his role with the network.

Sources said that league policy about team ownership overlapping with media employment comes into play only if the owner holds a position of authority at the media company and could impact broadcast rights negotiations. Fox and the NFL agreed to an 11-year rights deal in 2021.
