Seven-time Super Bowl winner Tom Brady has finally decided to retire from the NFL after releasing an emotional video on Wednesday, but he dropped a big hint shortly before making his announcement.
Brady has announced that his time in the NFL is now over, for good this time, after initially opting to quit last year. The 45-year-old is now free to pursue a new career now that his playing time is over, but he already hinted that he could explore TV coverage just 24 hours prior.
The now former NFL star has been linked with a huge deal working with FOX for some time, and spoke about it to Stephen A Smith, who was invited on his podcast. Brady spoke about the "exciting" opportunity, and now all eyes are on whether he goes ahead with his new role.
"There's so much to learn, there's so much to teach, you know, it's ever evolving," Brady said to Smith on his Lets Go Podcast. "Believe me, as much as you think I'm willing to teach people, I'm really looking to learn.
"I'm really looking to learn from all the people that I get to talk to. I get an opportunity to be in a job in the future where I get to travel around and learn from all the other people that I've looked up to and admired and different organizations and different people.
"So it's exciting for me too. I feel like the opportunity to do that is something that I'm really looking forward to whenever that time comes."
Well the time may have come now after Brady opted to retire, and he's done so just days before the Super Bowl. Brady could even make his debut as part of the coverage team on February 12, and what better way to start than being thrown in at the deep end.
Brady's good friend and former NFL team-mate Rob Gronkowski has already been a member of the broadcasting team since retiring last year. While Brady reversed his decision, Gronkowski held firm, and has been enjoying life ever since.
Gronkowski knows Brady better than most, and has been flooded with questions surrounding his future for some time. The former tight-end even said while on FOX that Brady has a great opportunity to work with them next year.
"Whatever opportunity makes him the most excited to play the game of football, that's where he will be next year," Gronkowski said. "If that's not playing football, he has a great opportunity working with us next year."
Brady and Gronkowski may be reunited sooner than first thought, and it would be quite the dream team moving forward in the broadcasting world. Legendary NFL quarterback Peyton Manning already gets involved with alternate commentaries alongside his son, and now Brady could offer his own expertise.
