Tom Brady acting like a baby at age 45 is getting really tough to watch

This is the online version of our daily newsletter, The Morning WinSubscribe to get irreverent and incisive sports stories, delivered to your mailbox every morning.

Tom Brady led his Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a big 20-10 road win Sunday over the Saints but it sure didn’t look like a fun afternoon in New Orleans for the 45-year-old GOAT who has won the Super Bowl seven times.

First, he showed up to the stadium with the body language of someone who didn’t want to be there.

Then he was seen in the game throwing his helmet on the bench while yelling.

Then he was seen throwing his Microsoft tablet in disgust while yelling.

Then he was seen whining at a ref over a no-call and while he was doing that he basically started a brawl that led to Mike Evans and Marcus Lattimore being ejected.

And I have to be honest, as a Boston guy who has enjoyed watching Tom Brady playing professional football over the past, like, 40 years it’s starting to get a little rough watching this guy continue to be so miserable so often while playing the game that he has been so good at for so long.

These outbursts by Brady are nothing new, of course. He’s always been one to shout and throw little fits on the sideline when things aren’t going his way. He hasn’t shied away from yelling at his offensive linemen or letting his frustrations out on a tablet when things aren’t going his way.

Yesterday, though, felt a little different than those times in the past. Brady, of course, retired briefly in the offseason and there were parts during Sunday’s game when it was impossible not to think that maybe he was wishing he was somewhere else rather than on a football field trying to win a game while a bunch of his offensive teammates were either out with injuries (Julio Jones and Chris Godwin) or later out of action thanks to an ejection (Evans).

Aging quarterbacks acting like you-know-whats is nothing new. Dan Marino spent his final few seasons absolutely screaming at receivers for not catching balls that were poorly thrown by Dan Marino. That was tough to watch back in the day and so is this whole Brady situation right now.

It finally feels like this really will be Brady’s last season of his legendary career.

Hopefully soon he’ll start enjoying it a bit.

Quick hits: NFL Week 2 Awards… Kyler Murray’s wild 2-point conversion… Packers’ ayahuasca TD celebration… And more.

– My NFL Week 2 Awards look at the good, the bad, and the hilarious from Sunday, including some poor audio guy on the sidelines in Dallas getting lit up by Ja’Marr Chase.

– You need to watch this incredible 2-point conversion that Kyler Murray pulled off yesterday.

– Packers Wr Allen Lazard celebrated a TD by pretending to pour ayahuasca for everyone, which was pretty great.

– Charles Curtis has 8 players you should be targeting on your fantasy football waiver wires this week.
