ITV journalist Anushka Asthana has teased the broadcaster’s ‘very interesting’ sit-down interview this weekend with her colleague Tom Bradby.
The Duke of Sussex gave the interview, which will air this weekend, ahead of the release of his tell-all memoir.
In a first look clip at Harry: The Interview, which was filmed in California with ITV, Harry said he wants his ‘father and brother back’ following the breakdown of his relationship with Prince William and his father King Charles III.
ITV newsreader Anushka appeared on Wednesday morning’s instalment of This Morning and touched on the highly anticipated interview.
Sitting down with hosts Andi Peters and Josie Gibson, they asked if she had been into the editing suite to take a peek at the conversation.
She said: “I believe it could be very interesting. Tom is so good and there is more to tell. Tom is his friend and a brilliant journalist.”
Andi replied: “You always talk more loose-lipped to your friends.”
Speaking to ITV News at Ten presenter Tom, who Harry has known for more than 20 years, the prince shares his personal story in his own words.
Anushka continued: “He of course was the person who got Meghan Markle to talk about whether or not she was okay, which was the beginning of something really big for her.”
Josie added: “We’ve grown up watching Harry, we’ve grown up seeing Harry. We want to know about him. He’s always been in our lives.”
Former politician Gyles Bradnreth was also on the programme and noted that Harry’s upcoming memoir Spare is being kept under lock and key by the publishers.
He said: “Between now and Tuesday there’s tight security over these books. Not since Harry Potter have they guarded a book so carefully.”
The in-depth interview will cover a range of subjects including his personal relationships, never-before-heard details surrounding the death of his mother Princess Diana and a look ahead at his future after quitting the royal family alongside his wife Meghan.
The 90-minute special will be broadcast two days before the publication of Prince Harry ’s autobiography Spare, airing on January 8 as part of his promotion for the tell-all book.
An interview Prince Harry has given to US broadcaster Anderson Cooper on 60 Minutes will also air on 8 January.
Harry: The Interview will be available to watch on ITV1 and stream from ITVX at 9pm on January 8.
