A two-year-old child and a man were rushed to hospital after being hit by a train in Glasgow on Sunday night.
Emergency services raced to Garrowhill Train Station at around 7.30pm after reports of two people being injured on the track.
The man and toddler were rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow. The man remains in a serious condition and the child's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Multiple police cars were seen at the station last night and the area was quickly cordoned off by cops.
Several train services were cancelled by ScotRail who said they were working closely with the emergency services. Travellers were urged to arrange alternative transport.
A British Transport Police spokesperson said: "Officers were called to Garrowhill station shortly before 7.30pm on 2 July following reports of two casualties on the tracks.
"Officers attended and two people – an adult man and a two-year-old child – were taken to hospital where they both remain.
"Both people sustained injuries from being hit by a train. The child’s injuries are not currently believed to be life-threatening, and the man remains in a serious condition.
"Detectives are investigating the full circumstances of the incident and believe there were a number of people on the platform at the time who may have witnessed what happened.
"Anyone who witnessed what happened and hasn’t already spoken to police is urged to contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40 with reference 564 of 2 July."
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 19:27 on 2 nd June to attend an incident at Garrowhill Train Station, Glasgow. We dispatched multiple resources to the scene, and one patient was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital.”
