Todd Cantwell's 'embarrassing' Rangers reaction as former Ibrox star blasts red card flashpoint

Todd Cantwell has been labelled as an 'absolute embarrassment' by former Rangers defender Richard Foster.

The Ibrox midfielder opened his account at Fir Park as Michael Beale's side bounced back from going 1-0 down to secure a 4-2 victory in a game that had VAR interventions and more than a few flashpoints. One involving the former Norwich City midfielder in the second half saw Motherwell man Callum Slattery sent off for a second yellow card amid a flailing arm towards Cantwell.

Referee Nick Walsh made the call much to the dismay of Stuart Kettlewell and Co and pundit Foster has not held back in his assessment of the reaction of the midfielder to the incident. The 25-year-old threw himself to the floor as if had been 'knocked down by Tyson Fury' according to the former Gers defender.

He told BBC Sportscene: “It’s an absolute embarrassment from [Todd] Cantwell. His reaction is embarrassing. Nick Walsh has every reason to believe that he’s been elbowed really hard in the face.

“I don’t think Tyson Fury would knock him down as quick as that. He throws his hands to his face then he throws his whole body.

“Players need to take responsibility because if that’s the other way around everyone in the Rangers team complains. He’s actually done the referee there.

"He swings his arm out and it rides up the arm of Cantwell and touches his shoulder and he goes down like he’s had a bat to the head. Embarrassing reaction for me."
