Todd Cantwell has been spotted at Glasgow airport after jetting in to undergo his Rangers medical.
The Norwich City midfielder has been top of Michael Beale’s January transfer wishlist and looks set to finally land his man. Our sister site Express Sport report that Cantwell has touched down in the city and will go through the required physical checks in the hope of putting pen to paper at Ibrox.
Cantwell is out of favour at Carrow Road and is looking to kickstart his career after initially breaking on to the scene as talented teenager with the Canaries. Beale is keen to beef up his midfield options after a season-ending injury to Steven Davies and sees Cantwell as an ideal addition to his squad. However, a deal is not yet done and they face a race against time to get it done ahead of the weekend’s Scottish Cup clash against St Johnstone.
The Gers are also keen to land Standard Liege midfielder Nicolas Raskin. He is out of contract at the end of the season and is set to leave Ronny Deila’s squad for free in the summer. A January deal could be struck with the Belgian pro League outfit, but Rangers face competition from Ligue 1 clubs Marseille and Toulouse.
They’ll also have to up their offer if they want to land Morgan Whittaker from Swansea. Boss Russel Martin has confirmed that bids from Givan have so far been “well below” the Welsh club’s valuation and that Whittaker will be in their squad for Saturday’s meeting with Beale’s former club Queens Park Rangers.
