Chelsea have been urged to avoid a potential transfer move for Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho by former defender Glen Johnson. It comes after the 22-year-old has struggled to find a way into the team at Old Trafford since his big money switch from Borussia Dortmund.
Sancho has made 10 appearances in the Premier League this season under Erik ten Hag, scoring two and assisting once in that time. His struggles have been clear to see and were only accentuated by the manager's recent claims on his fitness: "We want to bring Sancho back as soon as possible. He’s not fit enough to be in training camp," he told the Manchester Evening News.
“Jadon wasn't in the right status, in the right fitness state, so now he's on an individual programme and so hopefully, we see him back soon."

Amid those struggles, Sancho has been linked with a switch to Stamford Bridge to help reignite the early stages of his career. The Blues could have an advantage too after an admission from the winger himself, saying back in 2021: "I was a Chelsea fan growing up, I'm not going to lie."
Despite the potential to make a deal happen, former Chelsea defender Johnson has warned them against doing just that. He told GGRecon: "No [Sancho wouldn't flourish at Chelsea]. He’s not doing it at Manchester United, which is a place where he can prove if he can do it in the Premier League.
"I can probably count on one hand the amount of times I’ve seen him play for Manchester United. Chelsea aren’t going to want somebody who’s not performing for Manchester United because if you can’t get into United’s team then you’re not getting into Chelsea’s team.”
It remains to be seen if Chelsea will follow that warning or if they decide against it, making a move for a player with such potential, but is yet to show it in England.
