Todd Boehly plots double Chelsea transfer swoop as Jorginho replacements amid Newcastle interest

Chelsea could make a double transfer swoop for two young midfielders if Jorginho does not sign a contract extension at Stamford Bridge. Newcastle have registered a strong interest in the 31-year-old, with France Under-21s midfielders Khephren Thuram, of Nice, and Borussia Monchengladbach's Kouadio Kone identified as two potential Jorginho replacements.

Todd Boehly has seemingly already begun his significant midfield revamp with Chelsea pushing to sign Enzo Fernandez from Benfica with the Blues ready to pay his £105million release clause, but football.london understands the club are willing to pay above that fee to secure him, if they can agree favourable terms.

Exits at the end of their respective contracts for both Jorginho and N'Golo Kante seemed likely but significant developments occurred in the past week which could see the duo remain in west London beyond June 2023.

The agent of Jorginho offered a huge update on his future, revealing they had received a proposal over a new deal from Chelsea, with that situation now becoming their "priority".

Napoli, Jorginho's former club, could look to bring him back to Italy while the Magpies are hoping to solve their Jonjo Shelvey problem by signing the midfielder.

Despite the offer of an extension, Jorginho could still depart Stamford Bridge but Chelsea have a few more midfield targets, other than the expected Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice, up their sleeve who could be his replacements.

France Under-21s midfielders Kone and Thuram are both showcasing their abilities at a high level in Germany and France, respectively and have thus peaked the interest of Chelsea. Kone particularly has caught the eye with Simon Phillips revealing that he has been specifically recommended by new technical director Christopher Vivell.
