It has been announced that Petr Cech has parted ways with Chelsea. He joins Marina Granovskaia on the list of familiar faces leaving their position under new ownership. Todd Boehly's appointment as the owner was always going to come with harsh decisions, however, he has now involuntarily lost two important figures within the Chelsea hierarchy.
Though it may seem like a loss to those on the outside looking in, a source close to the club has told football.london that Todd Boehly wants a change in the way things are run. The source reveals that the new Chelsea owner did not have complete trust in Marina Granovskaia, Petr Cech, and Bruce Buck - three of the key operational figures at Stamford Bridge. Previous mistakes made in transfer windows have led to this point where Boehly himself has assumed the role of chairman and interim sporting director. It is also understood that Boehly believes Chelsea should have won more silverware in the last 10 years than they have.
The apparent lack of trust that Boehly shares for the former Chelsea board members does not flow down to the management team though. football.london understands that Thomas Tuchel, Emma Hayes, and Neil Bath have all gained the complete trust of the new American decision makers.

The transfer of Romelu Lukaku appears to be an 'early difference of opinion' between Boehly, Cech, and Granovskaia. Chelsea correspondent for GOAL, Nizaar Kinsella, confirms that Cech and Granovskaia wanted to keep Romelu Lukaku for another year at Chelsea. Kinsella reports that Boehly prefers the coach to be at the heart of transfers which may come as good news for fans who have previously questioned transfer outgoings and incoming in the recent past.
Despite having such a successful career at Chelsea, Marina Granovskaia also known as "the Iron Lady" had the fan base torn on transfer mistakes made in the past. Names such as Alvaro Morata, Timoue Bakayoko, and Danny Drinkwater come to mind as some costly errors made in previous transfer windows. As the Blues enter a new era, it is crucial that they do not repeat such mistakes again.
It seems like a tough pill to swallow now, but Cech's departure could breed the start of something new and exciting for the Blues in years to come. Todd Boehly is currently on the hunt for Marina Granovskaia's replacement and is considering former Liverpool sporting director, Michael Edwards - the man responsible for the transfers of Mohamed Salah, Virgil Van Dijk, and Allison Becker.
