Karen Carney believes Chelsea need to sign a striker in order to improve on their squad this summer. So far, the Blues have signed five new players, but the centre-forward position has not been addressed just yet.
Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner have both departed Stamford Bridge this summer to Inter Milan and RB Leipzig, respectively. Chelsea are interested in signing Barcelona forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and have been locked in talks with the La Liga club over the past week.
Barcelona are open to selling the 33-year-old, who only left Arsenal in January. However, it remains to be seen whether the former Gunners captain would be willing to move back to London and reunite with Thomas Tuchel.

Goals were an issue for Chelsea last season – with Mason Mount, who finished last term as the club's top scorer, having just 11 strikes to his name. Carney, when speaking on Sky Sports, has sent Chelsea a clear message about what still needs to be done between now and the end of the window.
"Given the turbulence, I still don't think they're stronger," she stated. "I think it's just one area: centre-forward and until they get that sorted, I think they will be in the same situation season after season.
"Mason Mount got 11, previous season, Jorginho got 7 – I don't think they're two stats that are going to win you the Premier League. I don't think they're stronger at the moment, but it will be interesting to see after the window if that makes them stronger."
Meanwhile, Chelsea remain in talks with Leicester City over a deal to sign Wesley Fofana. A third offer for the 21-year-old defender is imminent and the Blues are confident the Foxes will accept this time around.
Negotiations over a deal to sign Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona are still ongoing, too. Barca, like they are with Aubameyang, are willing to sell De Jong, but the Netherlands international is yet to give any indication that he wants to leave the Nou Camp.
