The couple looked ecstatic as Paula wrote: "Hey there, baby Mac!
"Our gorgeous baby boy was born earlier on today and we are so in love! He is divine!"
The 34-year-old went on to reveal the special meaning behind her son's name as she paid tribute to her "beloved grandad".
She explained: "He's named after my beloved grandad who we called Pop but others knew him as Denis MacSweeney.
"It would have been his birthday today! What are the odds?
"Welcome, Mac Denis Donnelly.
"We adore you! #Mac #BabyBoy."
Friends and fans flocked to the comment section as they congratulated the Today FM star on the wonderful news.
One said: "Huge congrats to you all he's a beauty."
A second said: "Congratulations lovely way to remember your granddad."
While a third added: "Congratulations!! Wonderful news, and a lovely name. Best wishes to you all."
"Ahhh fantastic news congratulations," said a fourth.
Taking to her Instagram stories on Monday evening Paula updated her followers saying: "This is heaven. My little boy. He's very fair. He weighed eight pounds and seven ounces and he is just divine. My biggest baba. He's gorgeous."
The news comes after Clare GAA legend Davy Fitzgerald and his wife Sharon O'Loughlin welcomed their first child together earlier this year.
The happy couple revealed Sharon gave birth to Daithi Og in May, but they kept the news quiet until now.
Davy said the new arrival is "one of the best things that has ever happened" to him, and he's feeling "chuffed".
The Ireland's Fittest Family star is already dad to a 25-year-old Colm, from his previous marriage to Ciara Flynn.
He added: "It's different for Colm. Like 25 years on, and he ends up with a brother. You know what, I don't think that's a bad thing either that there's two of them together now."
The delighted dad said Sharon will barely let him help with the baby as she's "very attached" to him.
Davy revealed: "Let's put it like this. Sharon is amazing at what she does. She won't let Daithi Og out of her sight. She won't let me do anything.
"She is very attached to him, but you know it's been a good thing for us."
Davy admitted they kept news of the baby's arrival under wraps as they are a "very private" couple. Davy explained: "We haven't really broadcast it too much."
