A legal dispute over the felling of an ancient oak in north London park by Toby Carvery has ended after the chain’s owners agreed to fund 1,000 new trees.

The felling of the 500-year-old tree in Whitewebbs Park, in Enfield, sparked public outrage and a nationwide debate over the preservation of ancient trees.
