Tobin Heath scored a dramatic stoppage-time equaliser to earn Arsenal a 1-1 draw at Manchester City in the Women’s Super League.
Heath levelled in the 92nd minute after Khadija Shaw had earlier given City a controversial lead when she scored after the referee touched the ball in the build-up.
That goal sparked frustration on the sidelines from Arsenal manager Jonas Eidevall, who felt play should have been stopped.
Arsenal, who have been in poor form in 2022, were heading for a sixth defeat in seven games in all competitions but they responded late when Heath salvaged a point.
The result leaves Arsenal two points clear at the top from Manchester United.
Earlier on Sunday, rivals Chelsea were held to a 0-0 draw at Brighton.
The Blues, who remain four points behind leaders Arsenal back in third place, dominated possession but could not find a breakthrough from their 26 attempts.
Brighton goalkeeper Megan Walsh made a number of saves and Erin Cuthbert also hit the crossbar on a frustrating day for Emma Hayes’s side.
United went above Chelsea and kept up the pressure on Arsenal with a 3-0 win against Tottenham.
