Tobi Adebayo-Rowling explains 'emotional' feeling following latest Notts County win

Tobi Adebayo-Rowling explained how he felt emotional following Notts County's 2-0 win over Eastleigh this afternoon.

The 25-year-old was one of four changes from Notts' midweek draw away to Southend and the defender repaid the faith shown in him by Luke Williams, producing a fine assist for Adam Chicksen to nod home the opener.

It was just Adebayo-Rowling's second start in the National League for Notts, and it was another impressive display after a number of encouraging performances from the bench.

The full-back has had to be patient for opportunities since joining the Magpies from Ebbsfleet United in the summer, with Williams explaining that at the start of the season Adebayo-Rowling needed to work on some fundamentals to force his way into his plans.

And with a clean sheet and an assist to his name, the defender revealed he felt a little bit emotional after his performance, explaining how far he has progressed since the start of pre-season.

"It's amazing, isn't it? I am a little bit emotional you know from where I was in pre-season to now, the gaffer didn't even know my name, no I'm joking," he said.

"It's honestly amazing, but it's only one game. There are many games that you have to be consistent in to stay there, the competition is hard.

"It's not even my shirt, it was just a good game. But it was a good day."

The Magpies' first win at Eastleigh since dropping down to the fifth tier was already a day to remember for the travelling 502 Notts fans, but it was made even better following the full-time whistle.

Wrexham were held to goalless draw at Grosvenor Vale by Wealdstone, meaning Williams' side regained top spot after spending just one game in second place.

But speaking after the game, Adebayo-Rowling insisted he is not looking at the current standings so early on in the season, saying that his side must concentrate on themselves if they are to achieve their end goal.

"No, it doesn't mean anything at the moment," said Adebayo-Rowling.

"There is a long way to go before you start to look at that, we just need to keep winning and we needed to bounce back after those two draws.

"I know it sounds cliche, but we have to concentrate on ourselves, concentrate on our game and we're a top team."
