NSW winger Brian To'o is set to miss up to eight weeks of NRL with a serious knee injury but should still be available in time for State of Origin.
The Penrith star has been diagnosed with a high-grade medial ligament injury after he limped from the field in the Panthers' 20-16 win over the Dragons on Friday night.
Scans alleviated early fears of an ACL issue and To'o is expected to return to action in six to eight weeks.
That will give him at least two games before the Origin series opener in Sydney on June 8.
However it is a blow for defending premiers Penrith. Robert Jennings looms as the most likely option to replace the game's most powerful winger.
The Panthers are hopeful forward James Fisher-Harris will be fit to face Newcastle next Saturday after incurring only minor muscular damage to his shoulder.
