NEW YORK — This news should get a standing ovation from New York theatergoers.
The TKTS discount ticket booth at Lincoln Center is set to reopen next week after being closed for more than two years during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The booth in the David Rubenstein Atrium was shut down in March 2020 when much of the city came to a halt at the start of pandemic. But beginning at 11 a.m. next Tuesday, those looking for a deal through the not-for-profit organization for the performing arts can get in line to scoop up tickets for Broadway, off-Broadway and Lincoln Center performances.
Passes for same day shows can sometimes be found at half-price at the booth until TKTS closes shop at 6 p.m.
Its sister operation, TKTS Times Square, at Broadway and 47th St., reopened for business last September.
“The demand for tickets has been growing at our Times Square location as folks return to the theatre, so we felt this was the right time to reopen our satellite booth,” TDF’s managing director Michael Naumann said in a statement announcing the reopening of TKTS’ 61 W. 62nd St. location.
The TDF, formerly known as the Theater Development Fund, originally opened its Lincoln Center locale in August 2016.
Great White Way shows including “The Music Man,” “Hamilton,” “Moulin Rouge: the Musical” and “MJ” are among the productions currently going on.
