Manchester United have been dealt a damaging blow to any lasting hopes of a Premier League title charge after they were beaten 7-0 by Liverpool. The Reds took a late first half lead through Cody Gakpo, but absolutely no one would've expected Erik ten Hag's men to concede six goals in the second 45 after achieving three clean sheets in their last five matches.
Darwin Nunez, Gakpo and Mohamed Salah all grabbed braces before Roberto Firmino netted a seventh in the same week it was confirmed he would be leaving the club in the summer.
Through consistent displays, United looked to have brought themselves into the title conversation and a Carabao Cup triumph over Newcastle last weekend looked to give the Red Devils momentum to have a say in what previously looked to be a straight title shootout between Manchester City and Arsenal.
