The Tennessee Titans and Jacksonville Jaguars will do battle for the first time this season in Week 11, with this matchup coming on the Jags’ home turf at EverBank Stadium in Duval.
Tennessee and Jacksonville will meet for a final time in Week 18 in Nashville. The first meeting this week marks just the second divisional contest the Titans have taken part in this season.
The Titans are looking to right the ship following two straight ugly losses. Meanwhile, the Jags are coming off their own ugly loss at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers.
Going into this game, the Jaguars are sitting in first place in the AFC South at 6-3, but they have both the Houston Texans (5-4) and Indianapolis Colts (5-5) hot on their trail. The Titans are bringing up the rear of the division at 3-6.
The vast majority of experts and sportsbooks see the Jaguars winning this game, but does our staff feel the same way? Let’s find out now.
Our records
Shaun Calderon: 1-8
Mike Moraitis: 1-8
Mike finally secured his first win of the 2023 campaign, although it was a troll pick. Shaun’s latest loss now evens things up going into Week 11.
Shaun Calderon
Over the last few weeks, I’ve given the Titans the benefit of the doubt and it’s drastically backfired. At this point, they’re going to have to prove me wrong before I start picking them again.
I think the Jags are simply a better team team this year, as painful as that is to say. In the end, I think the Titans will keep it close, but the Jags will find a way to win.
Final score prediction: Jags 24, Titans 19
Mike Moraitis
With what we’ve seen through nine games, there is just no way I can pick the Titans to beat a superior team like the Jaguars, which is actually good news for Tennessee since all but one of my picks have gone the opposite way.
Tennessee will get a better effort from its offensive line than we saw last week, but that bar is very low. There will still be issues in pass protection, which will ultimately limit the offense once again.
Making matters worse, the Titans are going to have a tough time moving the football on the ground against the Jags’ top-five run defense.
Tennessee’s defense provides some resistance early via the pass-rush, but that will wane as the game progresses and Trevor Lawrence and Co. will ultimately be able to do enough through the air to win this game.
Final score prediction: Jaguars 26, Titans 21
