We’ve officially entered the month of April and that means the NFL draft is right around the corner for the Tennessee Titans.
If you’re the type of person that despises mock drafts, this is definitely not the right month for you because this is the time of year when mock drafts flood social media timelines the most.
Anyone and everyone has their own opinion as to what each team should do come draft weekend.
Kyle Stackpole of CBS Sports recently took his own swing at the entire first round of the upcoming and he has the Titans going in a polarizing direction. Stackpole projects that Kentucky quarterback Will Levis ends up falling out of the top 10 and into the lap of the Titans at No. 11 overall.
Here is what the CBS sports analyst had to say about his decision:
There have been signs the Titans are interested in taking a QB. They’ve reportedly had private meetings with three of the top prospects, and while head coach Mike Vrabel said he expects Ryan Tannehill to be the starter in 2023, he didn’t commit to him. In this scenario, Will Levis can learn behind Tannehill while Tennessee figures out what to do with 2022 third-round pick Malik Willis.
The good news out of this scenario is the Titans theoretically got their quarterback of the future, so they can start to develop him as such.
The bad news is he’s undoubtedly the riskiest quarterback among all of the top prospects at his position.
The biggest problem with the Kentucky quarterback surrounds his underwhelming decision-making and inconsistent mechanics that desperately need to be refined.
Levis is experienced and talented enough that he could probably start right away if he absolutely needed to, but he would benefit a ton if he was given the opportunity to sit behind an established veteran for a season.
This would allow the talented signal-caller to develop and work on his own game without the immediate pressure of having to elevate an entire franchise as a rookie.
Despite his obvious struggles at the moment, there is a lot to work with if a team has. You could even make a strong argument that Levis has the best pure arm talent in the entire draft.

However, if he’s ever going to maximize his skill set to its fullest potential, Levis is going to have to break a lot of bad habits that can only be fixed through hard coaching and constant repetition.
Assuming the Titans end up keeping Ryan Tannehill for at least one more year, going to a place like Tennessee would provide Levis that luxury, along with the time needed to develop.
The Kentucky product is a true boom-or-bust prospect who is either going to make some front office look smart for betting on the upside, or like complete idiots for ignoring all of the obvious warning signs.
