After much was made about Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill not immediately reaching out to his new receiver, Treylon Burks, the veteran has since welcomed both he and quarterback Malik Willis via social media.
The Titans drafted Burks with their first-round pick after trading A.J. Brown to the Philadelphia Eagles, and then things got even more interesting when Tennessee drafted Tannehill’s eventual successor, Willis, in the third round.
Just in case you were wondering, general manager Jon Robinson revealed the team did not consult Tannehill before taking Willis.
Tannehill took to Twitter to welcome both, while also retweeting the team’s pick announcements for its other two selections, Ohio State offensive tackle Nicholas Petit-Frere, and Auburn cornerback Roger McCreary.
The tweets were the first public recognitions Tannehill has made towards the Titans’ 2022 NFL draft class.
Let’s get to work!!! @TreylonBurks 🙌🏼 https://t.co/fldpFzT806

After being the main reason the Titans were bounced from the playoffs in 2021, Tannehill drew even more ire from fans and media after he didn’t show up to the early, voluntary portion of the team’s offseason program.
As we mentioned, Tennessee’s offseason just picked up a ton after the pick of Willis, who figures to need a year to develop.
Even though Willis will be breathing down Tannehill’s neck, we fully expect the veteran to continue being the great teammate he has always been and to help the young signal-caller in his first season in Nashville.
