Titans RB Derrick Henry says he wanted to be drafted by the Dolphins

Over the last eight years, no one in the NFL has rushed for more yards or touchdowns on the ground than Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry.

Since entering the league in 2016, Henry has rushed for 9,02 yards and 90 touchdowns on an impressive 4.7 yards per game. Despite being the key piece of Tennessee’s offense and opponents often knowing the ball is going to him, he’s still been able to find frequent success.

Henry has had all of that success with the Titans, but before they took him with pick No. 45 overall in the 2016 draft, Henry believed he was going to be (and wanted to be) a Miami Dolphin.

Speaking with NFL players Will Compton and Taylor Lewan on the “Bussin’ With The Boys” podcast for Barstool Sports, Henry explained his thought process before the draft.

Since the 2016 draft, the Dolphins haven’t had the most success at the running back position. They had five different leading rushers in the first five years of that stretch before Myles Gaskin and Raheem Mostert got two each over the last four.

While the league is certainly not run by the backs, Miami may have had more success over the last eight years if they did have one of the best players at the position this century.
