Following the trade of long-time safety Kevin Byard, the Tennessee Titans are bolstering the position.
According to the league’s transactions wire, the Titans have claimed and been awarded safety K’Von Wallace from the Arizona Cardinals. To make room, the team placed defensive lineman Taylor Stallworth on injured reserve.
The 26-year-old defensive back was cut by the Cardinals two days after being benched in the team’s Week 7 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Prior to being waived, Wallace had played in all seven games, including five starts, and recorded 43 tackles, including one tackle for loss, four pass deflections, and one interception.
The former Clemson standout was originally drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL draft. With the Eagles, Wallace saw action in 45 games and made seven starts, recording 64 tackles and two pass deflections.
He was waived by the Eagles before the start of the 2023 season and claimed by the Cardinals. Wallace played in over 80 percent of the defensive snaps in Arizona. At the time of his release, the safety had allowed a 75.0 completion percentage and 81.1 quarterback rating on balls thrown his way.
Given Byard’s departure, the transaction, on the surface, provides the Titans with some much-needed experience at the position.
