Titans agree to terms with ex-Jaguars OLB Arden Key

The Tennessee Titans are reportedly expected to add an edge rusher in free agency, as the team has reportedly agreed to terms with former Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end, Arden Key.

The news comes from Jordan Schultz of The Score, who reports the deal is for three years and $21 million, with a max value of $24 million and $13 million fully guaranteed at signing.

Key, who also spent time with Ran Carthon in San Francisco before joining the Jags in 2022, tallied 4.5 sacks in 17 games (three starts) last year as one of Jacksonville’s bigger standouts on defense. He finished with impressive Pro Football Focus grades of 73.5 and 74.2 in the pass-rush and on run defense, respectively.

The 26-year-old’s three starts in 2022 were the most he had seen since his rookie campaign when he had 10 with the Raiders. Key didn’t get a single start from 2019-21.

Tennessee’s need for an edge rusher became dire after the team parted ways with Bud Dupree and saw DeMarcus Walker agree to terms with the Chicago Bears.

Key gives the Titans just what they need, which was a quality edge rusher and potential starter who can be an insurance policy for Harold Landry, who is coming off a torn ACL, and Rashad Weaver, who the jury is still out on.

The LSU product will at least be in a rotation with Weaver, but it’s very possible he could secure a full-time role opposite Landry in 2023. And, perhaps the best part, the Titans stole him from a division rival.
