In the wake of former Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota signing with the Atlanta Falcons, wide receiver A.J. Brown tweeted out that Mariota was the “best leader I ever been around.”
Of course, some people took that as a shot at his current quarterback, Ryan Tannehill, but at the time I didn’t see it that way. Instead, I chalked it up to Brown just being over-the-top happy for a former teammate he liked and respected very much during their brief time together.
Also, if you took that as a shot at Tannehill, you’d have to take it as a shot at every coach and teammate Brown has ever had, as he didn’t say “best QB leader” but rather “leader.”
There’s no way that was Brown’s intention.
Brown has since taken to Twitter to denounce the aforementioned notion that he was taking a shot at Tannehill, and in his tweet he addressed former Titans wide receiver Derrick Mason, who believes Brown’s original tweet showed a lack of faith in Tannehill.
I’m not from this weird planet. I was taught to show Love to our love ones and support them and that’s all I was doing. I took it down because of the slander it was bringing to one of my teammates. You have a good day sir .

And let’s not attack Mr.Mason . He did wonderful things for our franchise. Just was clearing up a statement, that’s all. Still show respect to one of our very own !

As I’ve said before, there’s nothing to see here. Brown has never shown the propensity to take shots at his teammates, especially not in public. He deserves to get the benefit of the doubt here until proven otherwise.
