Titan sub: ‘Presumed human remains’ found four months after it imploded killing five people

Presumed human remains and other debris has been recovered from the submersible that imploded on its way to explore the wreck of the Titanic, killing all five onboard.

The US Coast Guard said that the recovery and transfer of remaining parts of the submersible was completed last Wednesday.

The fate of those on-board the Titan submersible made headlines around the world which rescuers believe imploded as it made its descent into the North Atlantic on June 18.

Additional presumed human remains were carefully recovered from within Titan’s debris and transported for analysis by US medical professionals, the Coast Guard said.

A public hearing is set to be held once experts determine what caused the sub to malfunction during a 12,500ft dive to see the wreck of the Titanic.

Three Britons died - billionaire Hamish Harding, businessman Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman - along with OceanGate boss Stockton Rush and French explorer Paul-Henri Nargeolet.

OceanGate, the operator of the vessel, has since gone out of business.

The salvage mission conducted was a follow-up to initial recovery operations on the ocean floor roughly 1,600 feet away from the Titanic, the US Coast Guard said.

The new materials were offloaded at an unnamed port.

The US Marine Board of Investigation will continue its analysis and witness interviews ahead of a public hearing on the tragedy, officials said on Tuesday.
