TIRUPATI: Tirupati crime police wing arrested two notorious interstate thieves and recovered stolen property worth Rs 50 lakh including gold ornaments and silver articles on Friday.
Addressing a press conference at the district police office in the city, Tirupati SP P Parameswar Reddy said the accused identified as Karri Satish Reddy (38) and N Narendra Naik (26) were seasoned interstate thieves who were accused in as many as 10 house break-in cases reported in Tirupati in the last 2 years.
Karri Satish Reddy, a resident of Bapuji Nagar locality at New Gajuvaka in Visakhapatnam city, resorted to house break-ins at Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, Anakapalle, Kakinada, Vijayawada, Nellore, Tirupati etc in the state. He also resorted to similar thefts in the neighbouring states of Telangana and Tamil Nadu in the past. Karri Satish is accused in 80 house break-in cases registered against him in the past. He was booked under the Preventive detention (PD) Act by the Banjara Hills police in the past.
The other accused identified as Narendra Naik who hails from Nalgonda in Telangana, is an accused in 38 house break in cases registered at various police stations in the twin Telugu states of AP and Telangana.
Both the accused were arrested by the Tirupati crime police led by DSP Sudhakar, circle inspectors BV Srinivasulu and Challani Dora on Friday. Police recovered 943 grams of gold ornaments and 3 kgs of silver articles worth approximately Rs.50 lakh from the possession of the accused.
Tirupati SP P Parameswar Reddy appreciated the crime sleuths for arresting the two notorious interstate thieves besides securing the recovery.
