Relay road
The Aundivilai-Kovilvilai road is full of potholes. The Agasteeswaram panchayat union must relay it on a war-footing. Moreover, the four-laning work in Kanniyakumari district moves at a snail’s pace. The highways authorities must expedite the work to minimise inconvenience caused to the public.

Pedestrian footpath
Everyone is a pedestrian. Even those who drive cars or two-wheelers ultimately have to walk sometime. So, the walkers need space. It is important to provide and maintain reachable pavements along both sides of every road in Nagercoil for the use of pedestrians and for those who use wheelchairs. Moreover, buses operating on Palace Road or Duthie School Road need to be diverted as it is a narrow road and not fit for the use of heavy vehicles.

Conduct cyber crime awareness drive
I received a fraudulent WhatsApp message saying I won Rs.1 crore 85 lakh. I did not do what I was prompted and simply ignored it. But not all people will be cautious all the time. Recently I had been to Nagercoil where I saw a cybercrime awareness drive organised by the police at Vadaseri bus stand. Pamphlets and stickers were distributed on cyber crimes and how not to play into the hands of cyber criminals. Such programmes should be conducted everywhere as fraudsters prowl in every sphere, using SMS and social media.

No privacy
Before the renovation work at the new bus stand in Tirunelveli, the free public toilets for men and women had ‘L’ shaped enclosures to guard the privacy of users. Now, in the absence of that wall, people, especially women, feel embarrassed to use the toilets. As the door of the latrine/urinals for men is kept open, one can see the movement of users. I request the authorities to construct the ‘hiding walls,’ and also construct a new toilet for the third gender.

No schedule
In the absence of clearing waste with a schedule in Eruvadi in Tirunelveli district, garbage dumped on streets is strewn everywhere, more so in the windy season. I request the authorities to depute conservancy workers on a fixed schedule and remove the garbage.

No pavements
Under Smart Cities Mission, though many projects have been executed in Tirunelveli, no proper pedestrian path has been laid along most of the roads, especially along Tiruchendur Road, Thiruvananthapuram Road, and Nellaiapper High Road. Since vehicles are parked on the roadside, pedestrians face much inconvenience. Hence, I request the Corporation authorities to lay pedestrian paths on either side of the important roads in the city with side grills at the earliest for the safety sake of the public.
