Tipping Point viewers call out host Ben Shephard over Bee Gees question blunder

Tipping Point host Ben Shephard made a mistake on the ITV gameshow on Monday night, that soon had viewers talking.

Ben was asking a contestant about the band the Bee Gees, featuring band members and brothers Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb.

But the mention of their younger sibling Andy Gibb left Ben seemingly making quite the error, which didn't go unnoticed by fans who were familiar with there being four brothers.

The question was: "Which of the three Gibb brothers who made up the Bee Gees was NOT a twin?"

A contestant, Tracy, said: "I think I remember there was a Rob or Bob, a Robin Gibb. I'll play and I'll say Robin."

Ben then quipped: "You've gone with Robin. Now you've played because you think Karen will know."

He then asked contestant Karen if she was "into the Bee Gees", and if she could name them.

Karen said: "I'd forgotten about Robin, I could remember is it Andy and Maurice? I might have gone Maurice."

Tracy then learned her answer was wrong, with Ben telling them: "It was Barry actually. Barry was the brother you didn't name, there is no Andy. Robin and Maurice were the twins."

While some fans suggested he was referring to the fact Andy wasn't in the band, others were sure Ben believed there were only three brothers in general.

Taking to Twitter, fans quickly called him out and corrected him, directly messaging him to tell him he'd made a mistake - with one joking he'd "erased" Andy from history.

One viewer commented: "There wasn't an Andy Gibb ... interesting comment from Ben on Tipping Point."

A second fan write: "No Andy Gibb? Who was that impostor pretending to be their younger brother then @benshephard?"

Another wrote: "Wrong Ben! There WAS an Andy Gibb, but he wasn’t in the band."

A fourth fan commented: "No Andy?! Bloody hell Ben!" as a fifth added: "@benshephard i think you’ll find there was an Andy Gibb."

Tipping Point airs weekdays at 4pm on ITV.
