Marine heatwave disaster warnings ignored for two years

Authorities are "flying blind" in their response to South Australia's algal bloom and the federal government has ignored requests to monitor it and track its impacts, an inquiry has been told.

The federal government needs to invest $6 million over two years to kickstart a co-ordinated framework to deliver the reef's first cross-state biodiversity health check, Great Southern Reef Foundation co-founder Stefan Andrews says.
