Animals can sense danger - and know when they're in safe hands.
For two adorable puppies, the realisation came when they were picked up from the streets by two kindhearted strangers.
The helpless pups, now named Sparkle and Snowy, were spotted by rescuers from the UK charity Pawprints to Freedom in Tecuci, Romania.
The team were driving along a busy road when they noticed the tiny stranded animals, reports The Express.
A spokesperson for Pawprints to Freedom said: "We came across these tiny puppies running towards us chasing a man on a bicycle.
"We stopped to see if they were abandoned as they seemed lost. Sadly, we didn’t find either.

"We couldn’t just leave them as that would have almost certainly been their death sentence.
"We made them comfortable, gave them food and water, both so innocent and trusting.
"We named them Sparkle and Snowy and hope they will get adopted quickly as these sweet pups shouldn’t grow up in a shelter."
"One of them came running towards us without hesitation, the smaller one wasn’t so sure, so we had to tempt it with a little sausage.
"Part of our team scooped them up and safely put them in our car, the other part of our group searched the wider area to see if there were any signs of the mother or other siblings.
The puppies, thought to be just weeks old, are expected to be medium to large size when they are fully grown.
They will be ready to travel to the UK to be adopted when they are four-months-old and have had their vaccinations.
Pawprints to Freedom work to rescue and rehome Romania's unwanted dogs - and raise awareness of stray animals in need.
A statement reads: "We have a growing number of dog shelters, along with a number of rescuers and Romanian public shelters we also work with. We also have many dogs in foster homes in the UK and Romania.
"Whilst we want to make sure every dog that can find a home does, we also want to help prevent the huge stray dog problem in Romania. To help with this, we run spay campaigns throughout Romania.
"We think it is important to raise welfare standards so we work with our partners and directly donate food, veterinary care and support to existing dog shelters in Romania, as well as running our own and trying to lead by example."
