Tiny Liverpool restaurant serving enormous breakfast bagels - review

A Liverpool cafe receiving rave reviews is serving up delicious breakfast bagels that will keep you full all day.

Capaldi’s Bagel House is tucked away down a tiny street in Liverpool city centre, and has made a name for itself among reviewers. Many have raved about its “absolutely delicious” food and who was I to say no?

It can sometimes feel like a bit of a chore making breakfast in the morning - especially when you’re a tad hungover and couldn’t think of anything worse than standing over a stove. Since there was no chance of me cooking, I was looking for something a little greasy and very hearty to get me feeling more myself.

When I came across Capaldi’s Bagel House on Deliveroo I was intrigued - and I couldn’t resist after spotting the full menu. The restaurant is tucked away on Rumford Street in the city centre, just a stone’s throw away from Liverpool ONE.

Capaldi’s Bagel House offers plenty of different breakfast options for those who fancy a takeaway treat. Whether it’s a full English, a breakfast bagel or a number of ‘New York specials’ bagels, the restaurant offers a quick and convenient delivery service via Deliveroo with the click of a button.

With so much to choose from it did take a while to settle on just what I’d be adding to our basket. In the end I decided to limit myself to the ‘Bacon, Sausage and Egg’ bagel (£6.20) and I was glad I did in the end, for all the best reasons.

Living in the city centre I wasn’t expecting a long wait for delivery, but I was shocked at how speedy it really was. The food arrived still piping hot and there was (thankfully) no soggy food, or freezing cold fatty bacon. It was all cooked to perfection and bursting with flavour.

The bagel was stacked tall on my plate and I was unsure I’d even be able to manage half of the dish to be honest. To say the restaurant didn’t skimp on ingredients is a massive understatement.

The bagel was piled high with thick bacon, chunky sausages and gooey eggs cooked to perfection. The sausages were undoubtedly the best I’ve had from any restaurant, ever and the dish was hearty to say the least but I did manage to polish most of it off.

While not the greasy dish I’d expected when ordering, I’m glad of it because there’s absolutely nothing I’d change about the meal - except maybe getting to visit the restaurant in person. Each component was perfectly cooked and the bagel proved the ideal morning pick me up - it certainly cured my hangover, too.

With so many options to choose from - and all hitting the spot perfectly - I can definitely see myself trying Capaldi's Bagel House again soon. The whole experience was completely perfect and I'm looking forward to trying out the rest of the menu - hopefully in person this time. You can find Capaldi’s Bagel House at Unit 1, Norwich House, Rumford Street, Liverpool, L2 8TA.
