A tiny Liverpool café with a big reputation is serving up delicious breakfast barms that will keep you full all day.
Dory’s is tucked away on Hardman Street and has more than made a name for itself in its more than 10 years in the city. The venue recently moved into a bigger unit on the same street, making space for more customers to sit inside.
I remember Dory’s fondly from my uni days when, not quite fancying the one Costa machine tucked away in the library, I stopped in after lectures and picked up some of the best lunches I’ve ever had. However, I’d never managed to enjoy breakfast from Dory’s - until now.

It can sometimes feel like a bit of a chore making breakfast in the morning - especially when you’re not well and couldn’t think of anything worse than standing over a stove. Since there was no chance of me cooking, I was looking for something hearty to get me feeling more myself.
When I came across Dory’s on Deliveroo I couldn’t resist, the nostalgia - and my hunger - was too much. Dory’s offers plenty of different breakfast options for those who fancy a takeaway treat.
Whether it’s a full English, a breakfast barm or a simple toasted tea cake, the sandwich shop offers a quick and convenient delivery service via Deliveroo with the click of a button.
With so much to choose from it did take a while to settle on just what I’d be adding to my basket. In the end I decided to limit myself to the sausage, bacon and egg barm (£5.80) and I was glad I did, for all the best reasons.
Living in the city centre I wasn’t expecting a long wait for delivery, but I was shocked at how speedy it really was. The food arrived still piping hot and there was (thankfully) minimal sogginess and no freezing cold fatty bacon. It was all cooked to perfection and bursting with flavour.
The barm was piled high with food and I was unsure I’d even be able to manage half of the dish to be honest. To say the restaurant didn’t skimp on ingredients is a massive understatement.
The thick barm was filled to the brim with thick bacon, chunky sausages and gooey eggs cooked to perfection. The crispy bacon was undoubtedly the highlight and the dish was hearty to say the least, but I did manage to polish most of it off.
The food did have that element of messiness after having travelled from the restaurant, but that’s to be expected. It wasn’t nearly as greasy as I’d been expecting, which was a definite bonus.. Each component was perfectly cooked and the barm proved the ideal morning pick me up - it certainly made me feel better.
With so many options to choose from - and all hitting the spot perfectly - I can definitely see myself ordering breakfast from Dory’s again soon. Dory’s is based at 10 Hardman Street, Liverpool, L1 9AX.
