Tina O'Brien and Ryan Thomas 'super proud' as their daughter makes Waterloo Road debut

Tina O'Brien and Ryan Thomas have shared their pride over their daughter Scarlett Thomas making her acting debut on the revived Waterloo Road last night.

The BBC show - which originally aired from 2006 to 2015 - returned yesterday after an eight year break with some returning characters and a host of new faces at the school.

Among the cast is Scarlett, 14, - who is the daughter of former Coronation Street stars Tina, 39, and Ryan, 38. Tina had herself previously appeared in Waterloo Road.

Scarlett plays Izzy Charles and her on-screen dad is played by her uncle Adam Thomas, 34, whilst on-screen brother Tommy Charles is played by Adam's son Teddy Thomas, eight.

The family have been sharing their pride over Scarlett, Adam and Teddy's involvement with the revived show.

Tina shared a teaser clip on Instagram ahead of the first episode airing last night. She later returned to platform during the episode's broadcast to post footage of a scene.

It showed Scarlett acting alongside co-stars including Angela Griffin, 46, who plays headteacher Kim Campbell. Tina tagged her daughter in the posts on the platform.

Tina - who was on the show herself from 2010 to 2011 - also reshared a post by someone else. It mentioned Scarlett and read: "We are watching and are super proud!"

Scarlett's dad Ryan also shared his pride on social media yesterday. Ahead of the episode he posted a video promoting the launch, teasing: "What a time to be alive.

"Tonight, BBC One, 8pm, Waterloo Road, my little brother Adam, my little nephew Teddy and eldest daughter Scarlett take over the TV screen together as a family.

"Talk about a proud moment for the Thomases! Wow. I cannot wait for you guys to see it. We watched it as a family. It's beyond beautiful. So well shot. Incredible storyline".

Ryan later posted a clip of the episode being played on TV, which featured his brother Adam and daughter Scarlett. He was heard excited yelling in the background of it.

Ryan's fiancée Lucy Mecklenburgh, 31, wrote: "It's time! So excited to watch [Adam], [Scarlett] and little superstar Ted. I was actually a huge Waterloo Rd fan when it was first on".

Adam had teased ahead of the show: "Tonight is the night. [...] It has been a long time coming but it is finally back. I am so nervous. My anxiety's going through the roof right now but I'm just so excited for you guys finally get to see it."
